Belper Food Festival Sunday, 18th July 2010

This will be the fourth annual Belper Food & Real Ale Festival, organised by Belper Town Council. Last year's event was a record success with thousands flocking to the town to view more than 40 stalls and to enjoy the special entertainment that had been laid on.

Sean Wilson, former Coronation Street actor Martin Platt, and the Town Mayor will open the Festival at 10.00 a.m. in the town centre on King Street. Craft stalls will be set up in the Memorial Gardens and the Real Ale Festival and very popular hog roast will be held at the Black Swan on the Market Place.

Stallholders from all over the East Midlands, including many businesses from Derbyshire, such as The Pudding Room from Ashbourne, Bittersweet Chocolates of Melbourne, Peak Buffalo of Baslow and RP Davidson Cheese of Chesterfield will be attending. Several of the local shops will also be open for business in support of the event.

To give a more street party like atmosphere there will be a variety of live music and entertainment suitable for all age groups. Local dance troupes Folk Frenzy, Belper's Vanessa School of Dance and East Midlands based British Tribal Style belly dancers carried out fantastic performances in the street last year and they have generously agreed to perform again at this year's event.

Entrance is FREE and will suit all ages.
