- ELECTION OF TOWN MAYOR
Councillor Norman Bull was nominated and duly elected as Town Mayor for the municipal year 2009/10. He said he was pleased to be given the opportunity to help the people of this town, agreed to obey the Councils Code of Conduct and signed the declaration of acceptance of office. - ELECTION OF DEPUTY TOWN MAYOR
Councillor John Nelson was nominated and duly elected as Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2009/10. He thanked his fellow Councillors for his nomination and signed the declaration of acceptance of office. - APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

Borough Councillor, Peter Makin expressed his outrage on the MP's current expenses scandal. He went on to congratulate the Town Council for all the excellent work carried out by the Councillors on a voluntary basis. - POLICE
Sgt. Richard Booth introduced himself to the council as their new Inspector for Belper replacing Sgt. Lee Smith who retired April 2009. He confirmed that he would be working with the local community and the safer neighbourhood team to tackle the local problems.
Councillor John Nelson proposed a vote of thanks to Sgt. Lee Smith for his hard work and dedication in tackling the problems identified in Belper. This was unanimously supported by the whole Council. - MINUTES OF THE ANNUAL MEETING OF BELPER TOWN COUNCIL HELD 13 MAY 2008
