MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF 8th MAY 2012

  1. ELECTION OF TOWN MAYOR
    Councillor Mark Robertson was nominated and duly elected as Town Mayor for the municipal year 2012/13. He thanked the members for his appointment and signed the declaration of acceptance of office.
  2. ELECTION OF DEPUTY TOWN MAYOR
    Councillor Deborah Biss was nominated and duly elected as Deputy Mayor for the municipal year 2012/13 and she signed the declaration of acceptance of office.
  3. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE
    Apologies for absence were received from Councillor Joseph Booth (work).
  4. DECLARATIONS FOR THE REGISTER OF INTERESTS
    RESOLVED Councillors completed register of interest forms and agreed to abide by the Council's Code of Conduct.
  5. PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
    1. Members of the Public
      Councillor Fisher informed the Council that a number of stones have become loose in the boundary wall in the Coppice car park and asked that the owner be identified.
    2. Police
      Sgt Richard Booth thanked the outdoor staff for their assistance with the St Georges Day parade. He informed the Council that he had been promoted to an Inspector and will be working in a different town next week. The Council congratulated Richard and thanked him for his excellent work carried out on behalf of Belper.
    3. County/Borough Councillor
      County Councillor Peter Makin asked the police to look into the parking issues outside the dance studios on Queen Street.

    These minutes, approved in June 2011, were confirmed as correct.
  7. MAYOR'S ALLOWANCE 2012/2013
    RESOLVED to agree the Mayor's allowance of £2,431 for the year 2012/2013.
  8. MEMBERSHIP OF COUNCIL COMMITTEES 2012/2013
    RESOLVED to agree the list of Membership of Council Committees for the year 2012/2013 Councillors Biss, Nelson and Shepherd appointed to fill the three Staff Working Party vacancies. Councillor Fisher to replace Councillor Biss on the car park committee.
  9. MEMBERSHIP OF OUTSIDE BODIES 2012/2013
    RESOLVED to agree the list of Council Representatives Membership of Outside Bodies for the year 2012/2013. The Council agreed that a representative on the Belper United Charities should represent the Council on the John Locko Estate Charity RESOLVED Councillor Biss to represent the Council on both charities.
  10. DATES OF COUNCIL AND COMMITTEE MEETINGS 2012/2013
    RESOLVED to accept the proposed schedule of dates for Council Meetings during the year 2012/2013.
